It was in 2013 that Marvel got the rights back for Blade. There have been rumors of a new Blade movie or TV with some of them coming from Wesley Snipes himself.
Now, there’s a new report that adds to this speculation. The new Blade movie or TV series will now be based – not on Eric Brooks – but actually his daughter, Fallon Grey.
So, what’s Fallon Grey like, comic fans might ask?
Tim Seeley, writer of the Blade comic, says, “She’s a sort of ‘anti-Peter Parker.’ She’s popular, she’s well-liked and it seems like the world is her oyster. But, the expectations that come with being so damn perfect are starting to break her down, and that’s before she learns she’s the heir to a Daywalking-Monster-Stabbing-Empire.”
Of course, Marvel comics announced plans in July to release a comic book on Fallon Grey but there was a delay for its planned release in October. The reason for this, according to Bleeding Cool, is because the higher ups at Marvel are careful about her character as they want to release a movie about her in the future.
That doesn’t mean that Snipes’ chances of making a comeback on Blade are over. In fact, his character plays a big role in the comic book series on his daughter. Quite easily, a big screen adaptation of this is very possible.
What makes this interesting is that it takes the Blade character into new territory that hasn’t already been covered by Blade trilogy. Yet no matter, Marvel would like to see how the comics are received first before they adapt for the big screen.
